What is dpdesigned?

dpdesigned is a small digital design studio founded by a former career businessman to provide affordable services in the areas of: website design, banner ads, desktop publishing, logos, signage, photo retouching/restoration, copy writing, packaging, digital video projects, photography, presentations, and digital art.

Who is "dp"?

I'm Dean Piccoli, sole proprietor of dpdesigned. I'm a digital designer based in Greenville, South Carolina, working in mixed media to help a variety of clients promote their products, their services, their causes, or themselves. I have clients from New York to Santa Fe and can easily work remotely to serve you regardless of your location. My blend of creative and business skills allows me to offer a diverse selection of design services for small businesses or individuals needing to bring their visions to life. My clients are business people, artists, collectors, photographers, musicians, communicators, and families. Their common desire is to debut, upgrade, or maintain a visual presence in electronic or print form.

What is a digital designer?

I'm often asked this question. The term is relatively new and the definition is very broad, but my response is simple - I create things with computers. If I were a romantic I'd call myself a modern-day renaissance man but I'm more of a realist so I will tell you I am an artist, musician, photographer, writer, woodworker, businessman, and long-time geek that happens to have the combined know-how, skill, and resources to create websites, logos, posters, photographs, music, art, decor, space plans, interior designs, cards, menus, signs, labels, or most any other conceptual design that can be rendered in digital form. I will also tell you what I am not. I am not an IT provider, repair technician, network engineer, skilled animator, 3D modeler, CAD service, interior decorator, or marketing firm. I can assist in those areas but I do not serve in those capacities as an entrepreneur.

How would you describe your design philosophy?

Modern, abstract and heavily pop-art influenced. I like symmetry, cleaner geometric lines, and repeating patterns. I enjoy working with color. My traditional art background focused on illustration and pencil sketching along with oil and acrylic painting. Over the past ten years I have gravitated more toward 100% digital design and conceptualization. I believe pushing pixels with a stylus or mouse is every bit as challenging and rewarding as using a brush and palette. I am continually inspired by ever advancing technology applied to art.

Do you only work in your own style?

No, not at all. My original art and personal projects reflect my tastes, but a large part of being a digital designer is working with source material from others, in the style desired by my client. My background is business and my client projects are not a forum to showcase my designs; instead they are a vessel to deliver what you need to say to your audience. Whether designing from scratch, or incorporating or updating existing resources, I will work with you to ensure your message or expression is conveyed in the manner you envision.

How much do you charge?

That is a very difficult question to answer. dpdesigned is not my career. It is my passion. It is what I do for enjoyment. It is what I do to continue my knowledge quest, and it is what I am very fortunate to now be able to do for a living. As such, I can be very competitive when it comes to estimating project costs. I price myself well below the national average for one reason ... I'm picky. My "one-man-band" approach means I can be very selective about the types of projects I take on. I won't tackle anything I can't handle myself and deliver on time. Please use the contact form to provide me with information, ask questions, or request a quote. I will respond to you promptly.
