BACKGROUND:
Peruvian artist Renzo Barchi came to this
country in 1987 to study. After receiving a Master of Arts and a Master of
Fine Arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches he
moved to Houston where he now maintains a studio.
In 1998, he was awarded first place in a juried exhibition titled Close to
the Border, juried by Alberto Ruy Sanchez, Director of Artes de Mexico,
Mexico City and Merisol Nieves, curator of the Bronx Museum of the Arts. His
was included in the New Texas Talent 96’ in Dallas, Texas and the Texas
National 95’ in Nacogdoches, Texas. In 2001, he has a one-person exhibition
at Dibujo Cotemporaneo, Galeria 124, in Lima, Peru.
His works are included in the collections of the San Antonio Museum of Art,
San Antonio, Texas, the University of New Mexico, Las Crusas, New Mexico,
and American General Financial Corporation, Houston, Texas.
