Belgian born Marie-Ange Gerodez is an
Impressionist painter at heart and a master of details. A gifted,
self-taught artist, she first picked up a paintbrush at the age of twenty.
She uses Monet as her inspiration and has created her own style over the
years. Her keen ability of bringing flowers and trees to life has revealed
her natural talent as an artist.
In 1987, Marie-Ange moved to Mougins, a small village above Cannes along the
French Riviera and opened a studio. She was in constant search of the
Mediterranean sunshine; that brilliant luminosity than can be seen in all
her paintings. Her move to southern France coincided with the lavender and
poppy flowers fields in full bloom and the olive trees with full foliage.
Her frequent visits to old and peaceful villages above the coast line with
their cobblestone narrow streets, beautiful doors and flowers growing around
front porches have provided much of the inspiration for her works. Marie-Ange
now resides in a small castle in Tourtour, Provence. She captures a piece of
this beautiful region through her paintings.
She also travels across Europe and makes frequent visits to Italy where she
stops in Venice. The old City that saw the birth of the Renaissance inspires
her to paint several scenes of the canals of this romantic city. She is
currently traveling throughout Brittany, France where she started to paint a
series of beach scenes.
Whether you enjoy dreaming in front of an old street scene reminiscent of
southern France, imagine yourself gliding in a gondola down a canal in
Venice or vacationing on the coast of Brittany and Normandy, you will enjoy
the masterful details of the works of Marie-Ange Gerodez.
